A unifying event
The world visits Sendenhorst
At this year's third edition of the VEKA European Championships, the guests from Poland came out on top. In addition to the sporting achievements, the main focus was on the togetherness of the various groups from all over the world. Colleagues from Spain, England, France, Poland and other German subsidiaries traveled to the VEKA headquarters in Sendenhorst, Germany to participate in this sports event. DBS also took part in the international soccer tournament together with some colleagues from VEKA AG's IT department. It was a special experience that brought us even closer together as a team.
DBS wins penalty shoot-out
The overall tournament was won by the colleagues from VEKA Polska, who played their way through the tournament without losing a point and without conceding a goal. The fans were in no way inferior to this impressive performance. The team was properly celebrated during the award ceremony.
However, our personal highlight was the penalty shoot-out. Our managing director Kalle Wellsow proved his marksmanship and won the penalty shoot-out for DBS!
Fun entertainment program
In addition to numerous exciting games, a mixed program offered entertainment for the whole family. Whether a bouncy castle, face painting or wet fun at the Sendenhorst youth fire department house: even the youngest visitors had a lot of fun. The town and fire department band provided the musical atmosphere, playing the national anthems live. The evening program was opened by the band "Covering Ground". VEKA CEO Andreas Hartleif and his band members quickly captivated the visitors and created an energetic party atmosphere. The grand finale of the big event was the big public viewing. Together, everyone watched the German professional soccer team and, in the end, cheered as well.
Thank you to everyone involved
A big thank you goes to all the organizers for the preparation and planning as well as to all the visitors for the fantastic atmosphere. Experiences like this stay in mind and strengthen the international team spirit. All in all, the VEKA European Championships were a complete success and proof that sport unites people from different countries and cultures.
