Retirement after more than two decades
A big thank you to Thomas Groß
After 26 years and five months, we are saying goodbye to our valued colleague Thomas, who is taking his well-deserved retirement this month. Thomas began his career in the IT department of our system provider VEKA. Since the operational start of DBS in 2020, he has not only impressed with his professional competence in the team of WinDo Experts, but also with his dedication and motivation.
Looking back on projects and challenges
During his time at VEKA and DBS, Thomas worked on numerous projects. He particularly enjoyed tasks where the solutions were not obvious. He always mastered these challenges and contributed significantly to the success of his customers.
A major change in his work was the increasing complexity of the window construction software. In the past, customers were able to make adjustments to the glass, hardware and profile master data themselves. Today, this is virtually impossible. Customers are dependent on the support of suppliers in the master data area. This development shows how much the requirements and effort involved in software configuration have changed over the years.
Technological developments have played a central role in Thomas' career. Particularly noteworthy are the introduction of Teamviewer for online support, the switch to SQL databases in the KLAES software and the regular KLAES online and master data updates. These innovations have permanently changed and improved the way of working within the company.
Success and team spirit
One of his greatest successes is the establishment of VAMOS as a successful product. Thomas is also particularly proud of the interface he developed between SAP and KLAES, which laid the foundation for the first electronic orders with VAMOS in 2003. In addition, he mastered KLAES version updates for customers with very individual program configurations, which software developers had a hard time with. Recommendation and recognition from customers were always a valuable confirmation of his work.
When he wasn't on site with customers, Thomas spent most of his first 15 years at VEKA in the office in Sendenhorst. This time enabled him to build close relationships with his colleagues, from which he also benefited when working from home. The collaboration with various departments and colleagues was always characterized by mutual respect and support.
A look into the future
Thomas has clear plans for his retirement: he wants to stay healthy, spend more time with his grandchildren, stay active in sports and clear the renovation backlog. He also plans to explore new regions and landscapes on his mountain bike.
We would like to thank Thomas from the bottom of our hearts for his many years of loyalty, commitment and valuable contributions. We wish him all the best for his retirement, good health and many wonderful moments with his family and his hobbies.
During the official farewell celebration, all colleagues not only enjoyed a delicious breakfast, but Thomas Groß also received farewell gifts and a big thank you from our Managing Director Kalle Wellsow.
