Time saving interface

New interface speeds up data transfer

A newly developed interface solution ensures a considerable acceleration of the data transfer from the Klaes ERP software into the WinDoPlan planning software for window construction companies.

Our DBS WinDo Planning team has developed a new interface for the planning configurator WinDoPlan in cooperation with the software house Klaes. By solving the common interface problem, we did pioneering work again: while the use of planning and ERP software is standard in most window construction companies, an interface for the fast data transfer between the programs was missing in the industry until now. The desire to find a practical and uncomplicated solution came from the ranks of VEKA partner companies that use the WinDoPlan planning configurator. The new, compatible connection of planning and ERP software now makes it much easier for window construction companies to directly transfer the data generated in the planning phase in the ERP software and to validate it with the planning software.

Great time savings, fewer errors

After an extensive test phase, the new interface is already available to VEKA partners and is attracting a great deal of interest. Window manufacturers, who are already using it, are enthusiastic about the benefits. "The time required to enter the necessary data is halved because this process is only necessary once," confirms Gerd Walter, Managing Director of Walter Fenster + Türen GmbH in Kassel, Germany. And the considerable time savings are not the only advantage of the new interface. Frank Kneer from the German window construction company Biermann + Heuer GmbH in Werl-Büderich also points to the higher process reliability and reduced susceptibility to errors during data transmission. This positive response on the part of users shows that VEKA has once again exactly met the needs of profile processors with the latest development of the DBS.

Klaes ERP software becomes BIM-capable

In addition to the aforementioned advantages, the use of the new interface also brings another gain. By digitally linking the BIM-capable planning software WinDoPlan with the ERP software from Klaes, the latter also becomes BIM-capable. This fulfills - almost incidentally - an important requirement with regard to the future viability of window construction companies. Those who want to survive in competition in the future must be able to provide their data material for Building Information Modeling (BIM) in a seamless, integrative process. This is because only complete data sets of all products used on a construction project enable planners to create the digital twin of a building. Because this type of comprehensive digital planning brings many advantages for the planning phase and also for the execution of construction projects, experts agree that BIM will become very important in the future.

Into the future with WinDoPlan

Specialist companies that already rely on the BIM-capable WinDoPlan planning software are equipped for the digital future. The powerful tool enables window manufacturers and architects to complete all steps online in a time-saving manner, from the selection of the profile system to the complete documentation, and to plan windows and doors conveniently down to the smallest detail. In addition, the software provides valuable support in the areas of sound dimensioning, glass statics and fastening dimensioning as well as isotherm calculations and dynamic wall connections. The structural analysis and U-value calculations required for window planning can be carried out much more accurately and simply with the help of WinDoPlan than was previously the case. The new interface solution to the Klaes software now provides yet another tool for optimizing the planning process.
